10 Swimwear Trends for 2017 24th October 2016
Although summer 2016 may feel like a distant memory, fashion is already casting a glance towards 2017. If you’re jetting off to sunnier shores or simply staying at home and lounging in your luxury swimming pool, it’s the perfect time to contemplate how to look your best.
Over the past few months, designers have been showcasing their wares with an eye to influencing next year’s beach and poolside styles. Miami Swim Week, held in July 2016, showcased the looks that will be hot next summer.
According to Elle.com, what they refer to as a ‘frong’ was a frequent flyer throughout the shows – in other words, swimsuits with high-cut legs to the extreme, a look that has been seen on many a celebrity in recent months.
One-piece bathing suits remain timeless classics, with a variety of styles gracing the catwalk. As noted by Cosmopolitan.com, sheer cut-outs are a common theme, along with slashed or lace-up sides. Asymmetric designs are also prevalent, with one-shoulder straps making a comeback.
Another hot trend is the halter neck, either as a suit or in bikini form. The Fashion Spot spotted that these feature heavily in the 2017 collections, as do tassels, a trend Cosmopolitan picked up on too.
Men are not excluded from the fashion forecast either. At the South Beach Men’s Show, also held in July, noted styles included closer-fitting, thigh-length board shorts, as well as geometric patterns and vivid colour blocking.
Wherever you intend to relax, you are sure to find a style that suits.
